About Us
Our Story
The Business That Couldn't Grow
For generations, my family has been making Kapok mattresses. It wasn't just a business—it was our identity. Four generations had poured their lives into it. After many years working in the IT industry, I returned to my hometown.
One thing immediately caught my attention. Our neighbour, who had started a catering business much later than us, had grown tremendously. His business had expanded. His life had changed.
Our family business... hadn't.
I asked my father, "We've been making mattresses for more than four generations. Why are we still in the same place?"
He smiled and replied, "You're the engineer. You work for a large company. Why don't you find the answer?"
That single question changed my life.
Business One: Build a Better Product
I spent nearly fifteen years in the IT industry, where I learned one principle that solved countless technical
problems:
Never fix the symptom. Find the root cause.
I also completed a Design Thinking program, which taught me something equally important:
Before building solutions, understand people.
I believed I had found the answer. Instead of selling ordinary Kapok mattresses, I redesigned them.
In 2015, I launched LayaBeds, an improved version of the traditional mattress.
I was convinced customers would immediately recognize the difference. They didn't.
For the first six months...Almost nobody bought. A better product alone wasn't enough.
Business Two: Build Better Marketing
I assumed the problem was marketing.
So I hired an MBA graduate from a top business school. Sales didn't improve.
Next, I hired an experienced Chief Marketing Officer from a leading company.
The campaigns became bigger. The advertisements became louder. The spending became heavier. Sales barely moved.
Most of our capital disappeared into advertising. I realized something painful. You cannot advertise your way out of being ordinary.
Business Three: Build a Different Business
At that point, a neighbour introduced me to Blue Ocean Strategy.
Instead of asking, "How do we beat competitors?"
I started asking, "How do we stop competing altogether?"
That changed everything. We discovered an unexplored customer segment.
We designed an innovative solution called Trigun, a comfort-changing mattress created specifically for homemakers.
We completely repositioned the business. We rebranded as AyurvedicBeds.
The same manufacturing. The same company. But a completely different strategy. Sales finally started growing.
For the first time, I understood something most businesses never realize.
Winning isn't about being better. It's about being meaningfully different.
Then Something Unexpected Happened
A friend named Sai, founder of The Mars, asked for help.
His software company had become another "me-too" business.
Together, we repositioned it as an automation specialist.
The business transformed. Then another founder came. Then another.
The same principles worked again. And again.
Across different industries. It wasn't luck. There was a repeatable pattern.
Engineering Differentiation
After helping multiple businesses, I
realized branding wasn't about logos, colors, or clever taglines.
It was about engineering strategic differentiation. That led to the development of our proprietary framework: CD³ Framework
Diagnose. Design. Differentiate.
First, uncover the real problem. Then, design a meaningful solution. Finally, build a position competitors cannot easily copy.
We applied this framework across small and medium-sized businesses. The results were remarkably consistent.
One Question Changed Everything
One question kept bothering me.
If only a handful of businesses become unforgettable brands...Why?
Why should branding be reserved for companies with million-dollar budgets?
Why can't every entrepreneur build a remarkable business?
That question became our mission.
My Brand Doctor
Today, My Brand Doctor exists to
help founders discover what we discovered the hard way.
Most businesses don't fail because they have bad products.
They fail because they look, sound, and compete like everyone else.
Our mission is simple:
Diagnose what makes your business ordinary.
Design what makes it remarkable.
Differentiate until competitors become irrelevant.
Because every business deserves more than survival.
Every business deserves its own category.
